Confused, what's ur opinion?

Hey parents or anyone else reading this, just need your opinion on this.

I'm going for Business major and I got accepted to IU (not direct admit into Kelly though) but I kinda wanna go to Purdue biut I got deferred (wanna see me 7th semester grades). If I get into Purdue which college should I attend? I hear Krannert isn't bad either.

Thanks

I was once in your same shoes (well, two different schools but the same set up. Deferred from one and accepted to another). I decided to go where I was clearly wanted. I have no regrets.

A lot depends on how much you want Purdue. If you decide to go that route, it will be like being in an engagement that you don’t want. Part of your brain will be putting down deposits, learning about IU and part of your brain will be contemplating Purdue. This could go on and on – all the way up to about mid September. It is a hard way to live and only you can decide if it is worth the “straddle.”

Why not bluntly email Purdue and tell them that you’ve been deferred but are still interested. Ask them what their previous year’s stats are on accepting deferred students. If you find out that last year they took 2 kids off the deferred list (or zero) then you have your answer – it’s not worth the agony of the wait. On the other hand, if they took several dozen or even a hundred, then that’s a different deal.

You can also telephone (politely) and, with a steady voice, ask to speak to an admissions officer. Say, politely, that you are sorting through your options. Would it be possible for the officer to review your file and give you an “overview” or “guidance”. What you want to know, generally, is how many students with your GPA are typically accepted off the wait list. If you sound weepy or angry, you’ll get a brush off. But if you sound mature and open to hearing the truth, you might get an insight to your chances.

Good luck!

good advice but I had an older bro that went to Purdue and I used to go there and chill with him so I have a connection with it. In afraid if I don’t get in Purdue I’ll be miserable in IU

IU is awesome. Wonderful campus and you can go for Kelley as a sophomore admit. The Kelley school is really good. I wouldn’t pick Purdue over IU for anything but engineering.

Agree with MOWC, IU is known for Business and Purdue is known for Engineering.

I have to say that Purdue came across as a great thundering herd when we looked at it. Just another huge diploma mill . . . but lots of people love it.
