Hi everyone :)

I posted another thread asking people's opinions and advice on the BFA Acting Programs I am planning to apply to. In short, I am US Citizen living outside of North America and have been taught under the British Curriculum. I just graduated from Senior School and will be taking a gap year to properly prepare and apply to the Universities I hope to attend.

One of my favorite programs that I've looked into is the Acting BFA at BU. It seems perfect for me not only as an individual program but as a whole school since I also want to minor in English Literature. I am little confused though about the admission system at BU and I'm hoping that someone could clear things up a bit for me. From what I understand to get into the BFA an audition is required for admissions into the program as Freshman; however, when I got to look at the curriculum for the Acting program, the list of required courses begins from the second year and not the first. To add to my confusion, I can tell from the website that all accepted Freshman are accepted into the 'Performance Core' program and are expected to declare a BFA major before their sophomore year. This seems a bit odd to me as I thought the point of the audition was to enter directly into your desired BFA program from year 1.

So my question is:

When you audition for the BFA Acting program, are you auditioning for the second year? Do you audition in the middle of your freshman year during the performance core program? Are applicants accepted into the freshman performance core program without an audition as the the review/audition process is intended for later in the year?

Or do you audition for the BFA Acting program before your Freshman year and are then accepted into the performance core program in year 1?

I hope my questions were clear and I'd really, really appreciate any help or response of any kind! I am very confused and am getting quite frustrated as I really love everything about BU apart from their website which seems very unclear to me.

Thank you for any form of advice or help on this matter!! :) :) :)
