hi all, can anyone PLEASE give advice about choosing a grad school?

I am from Europe, been to the states a couple of months. I am currently studying Computer Science at CSU Channel Islands and living in camarillo CA. Well lets just say I had other expectations. My undergrad was in England different experience there!

I was accepted also by CSU Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona, New Mexico state and Rochester IT the first 3 still accept me for fall '11. Does anybody have any insights? regarding safety, academic level, which is considered the most "prestigious", campus life (not a party animal but CSU CI is kinda BORING nothing to do on campus or in Camarillo...)

i know i should have researched all that before coming to the states BUT it was sort of impulsive

What level of degree are you aiming for. CSULB and Cal Poly Pomona are not permitted to offer Phd programs since like the other CSUs, the highest degree they can bestow is a Master’s degree and not all CSUs have Master’s programs in all subjects. The 1960 Master Plan for Higher Education in California only allows campuses of the University of California to offer doctorates. If you are only interested in a terminal Masters degree and if CSULB or Cal Poly Pomona offer a Masters program in Computer Science they would probably provide you with a good education but since you would be paying non-resident tuition will be fairly expensive. These schools are well regarded in California but are basically unknown outside the state.

Although you would have to check and make sure I am fairly certain that New Mexico State is permitted to offer a PhD in Computer Science and many other subjects. It is also probably less expensive than attending a CSU.
