Confused

I enrolled in college thinking I wanted to be a Nurse. But I couldnt pass A&P. So I chose business. Now I want to be able to transfer to a 4 year college and your required to take bio 137 with a lab. Why is that needed for a business major to transfer? Please help?

This sounds like a very specific requirement for a specific college. You need to name the college and see if anyone is familiar with it enough to comment here. Better yet, contact that college directly and find out if there are any other science courses that would fit that Bio 137 requirement instead.

As for the more philosophical question, which is basically akin to “why would a music major have to take a math course” or “why would an English major have to take any science courses” etc – usually the answer is the college often has a larger goal of creating “well rounded” students who know more than just the skills in their specialty or major. And sometimes in the bureaucracy of turning that vision into a list of classes and options, a few clunky options get included. My guess is that most colleges require science w a lab for business majors but that most colleges allow a wide range of classes to fill that spot.
