Confused.

Hi. I went to Loyola Maryland for my freshman year and I didn't like it. The location was good I like Baltimore, but I wasn't a fan of the people or the social scene. I want a change and applied to the University of Oklahoma. I know, it's random. It's in the middle of nowhere and it has a football team, a lot of majors, different people, but I'm worried about being stuck there and starting over. My best friend wants to come with me, but I don't think she can because she can't pay for it :( I don't want to go alone. I don't even know if the school is a perfect fit. I'm so scared. But what else can I do?

Take a semester off? Work? Look at other schools?

I don't know :(

If you like the Baltimore area, why don’t you pick up the phone and call the other colleges and universities in the Baltimore region and ask if they are still accepting transfer applications for the fall? If they aren’t, ask what the cut-off dates are to apply for the spring?

If you aren’t sure about where you want to be, or what you want to study, it might be a good idea to take a semester (or a whole year) off so that you can think about your long-term goals. If you have a better sense of what you want to do, it will be easier for you to make a list of places to apply to.

Good luck!

I agree with Happymom. Although the prospect of going somewhere totally new may seem liberating and exciting, it may also be naive. Before transferring you really should decide what you want in a school and attempt to find it. I think taking a year or semester off may be in your best interests.

With that said, what are your stats like? Have you looked at the University of Maryland, College Park? UMD is a great school, has really good sports, is big, and plus it’s not too far from Baltimore. They are actually still accepting applications (Deadline 06/01), so you should look into it.
