Confusion concerning UPenn Admissions

So I was looking at something today that made me so confused I had to finally make an account for this site to ask about it. On CollegeBoard, under UPenn's profile it says:

"2% had h.s. GPA between 2.5 and 2.99"

I was very confused and was wondering if maybe this was a mistake, or is it really possible to get into UPenn with 2.5-2.9?

They aren’t making up the data, so it’s probably something like black legacies or the children of major donors. I wouldn’t let it affect your assessment of anything.

^^Either that or it’s someone who is a thousand yard rusher or who can regularly hit the jumper from beyond the three point line.

Maybe that 2% is comprised of geniuses who started their own companies, invented something, or have some other ridiculous EC who happened to fall ill for an entire year, majorly screwing with their grade but still genius enough for the Ivies to salivate over. If you (generally speaking) have a GPA in that range, don’t count on getting accepted unless you discover the cure for cancer.
