confusion on math wording.

<p>i always get confused when CB uses terms like divisible by, divided by,
and now this one:
a number is added to 9 less than twice the number. if the result is 180, what is the number?
x+9-2x=180 or 2x-x+9=180</p>

<p>edit: thru trial and error, 2x-x+9=180 seems to be the correct .
so in this case, 5 less than x , is x-5? yeah??</p>

<p>x+(2x-9)=180
3x=189
x=63 i think(no calculator) but the steps are right.</p>

<p>Edit: yes, 5 less than x means x-5.</p>
