Confusion regarding recommendation letters and the Common App

I am currently a freshman at a top ranking regional university. I have mixed feelings about my current school and am not sure if I will transfer -- it depends on how I feel about my current school after second semester. However, I definitely intend on at least applying to 6 schools as a transfer.

I have already finished the Common Application itself and made it half way through supplements. Like advised in the "Transfer Admissions 101" guide, I asked two professors if they would be willing to write a recommendation letter for me before break, and they agreed. But I am confused when it comes to the process of having the professors that agreed to write me a recommendation fill out the instructor evaluation that is part of the school forms on the Common App.

How should I go about having the two professors complete the recommendation forms I need while being a minimal burden to them? It seems ridiculous to have them complete 6 separate forms. Can I just have them fill out one and then make copies myself, or would that make it look like I tampered with the forms? Is my problem simply that 6 schools is too many to be applying to as a transfer?

Sorry if this is a really stupid question or has been asked elsewhere. This whole transferring thing is stressing me out, and I am really freaking out about this part in particular. Any help would really be appreciated.

A few options:

You can provide them with postmarked envelopes and they could make photocopies of the form and send them out themselves.

Or

You can ask them to fill the form out. They make 6 copies. They stick each Rec and form in the corresponding envelopes and sign over the seal. Then they return the envelope to you where you would send it to whatever school. The importance in this one is the signature of the seal.

So if im transferring from a cc to usc, do I need letters or rec from my professors for electrical engineering? D:

Thank you very much, MitchAPalooza.

Remember that YOU need to fill out the top and sign first, before giving the form to the prof. If you still have questions, check out the other threads about LORs in the top 3 pages of this forum, it’s a FAQ right now ;).

You need to go to the USC website and see if they have any special requirements for LORs, and particularly for engineering. If not, then you should get LORs from whoever will write you the strongest letters, keeping in mind that it often helps to have at least 1 in your field of interest.
