<p>This honor is well deserved and overdued. Caltech has been at the top of science and engineering for a while. It has highest impact per faculty, highest number of paper per faculty, highest % NAS member, highest % Nobel laureates for so long, it is finally recognized. I wonder why it takes so long for Caltech to get this honor. In many so called top universities including Harvard and Stanford, there are many mediocrities with pockets of excellence, In Caltech, there are many excellences with rare pocket of mediocrity. Simply put, Caltech is the beacon of American academic excellence and a model university.</p>

<p>WOW - just noticed this… Caltech well deserves this ranking, being perhaps the only college left that prioritizes academic excellence and scientific drive over athletic competition and pageantry. Well done!</p>
