CONGRATS Class of 2014 --Link to Place Your Deposit

Congrats to everyone who receives a FAT Package over the next few days in the mail ...and it is a FAT package, so I thought the one link you might want quickly is:

the link to place your $ 800 admissions deposit if you are absolutely 100% certain CMU is your first choice-- this link requires the use of credit card. This is the fastest way to get in the queue for housing- which as noted by several posters-- housing preferences are filled in the order of the date in which you return your admissions deposit. Housing forms will be out late in May -- do not worry- there is NO rush on that form.

https://webapp.as.cmu.edu/ntia-deposit/index.html

There's also tons of info here:
Now That I'm Admitted

You can also fax or snail mail the admissions acceptance form received within your fat package. A credit card or check works for these methods of indicating your acceptance.

Again- congrats to all new TARTANS!
Best wishes to many other talented and wonderful students !

this makes me really anxious ><

good luck everyone!

a link to a site where you pay 800 dollars posted on a forum…no not sketchy at all…
lol.

Hey Spacepope
I was trying to be helpful given all the PMs I received about things…

I assume you were just being funny-- yes, i see your point… You’re on to me…that’s it, I drafted an entire fake webpage to collect application fees from 1400 students and run away to an tropical paradise with my riches…

There’s a lot of info in the mailings…if CMU is your first choice, then get your deposit in ASAP and that link is the fastest way to do so.

Good Luck

Just thinking what would happen if a rejected student fills in the form with correct credit card number and hit Submit, you know, just to show CMU how much he loves the school

Bumping this thread so that everyone who really has CMU on the top of their list can use this link tonight after online decisions are supposedly released.

From the sound of things…snail mail has taken on a totally new level of slow…

Seriously, check out these links…they will work for you if accepted.

Best to everyone!

bumping again, i want to fill this out now, but im a bit reluctant till i recieve aid info. but their offices are really behind, so ill might just end up doing it soon anyways.

Thank you for this link Mom! Waiting on two more, but CMU is on the short list!

bit of a dilemma…still no package but CMU on the top of the list…is it wise to put down the deposit? Is it refundable if you choose not to attend? Some schools do have refundable housing deposits (UW-Madison) which I thought was very nice…some had relatively small, but non-refundable but does not require a commitment to the university (OSU) and some, most wisely, ask for you to send a deposit asap after May 1 (by far the most humane way to do this)…how does cmu’s housing deposit work?

This is NOT refundable nor is an admissions deposit refundable at any college.

You pay it and also agree to the terms - which are that you are not paying a deposit at any other school.

If financial aid is unacceptable, you cannot get your deposit back…so you must be 100% sure that you are going to attend any school at which you place your deposit.

Thanks for reply. Some schools seperate the deposit to attend and deposit from housing…OSU does this and gets an extra $150 from every kid that backs out of attending in April but if you have any slight plan of attending you want to get the deposit in as early as February or March so you have a shot at on campus housing (huge school, not enough room). At UW-Madison, the $50 deposit is fully refundable, but, again should you not sign up early they, literally, put some freshman in a common area (10 guys or 10 girls) waiting for kids to drop out second semester. Since we still haven’t gotten the package from CMU we can’t know what their policy is. We are waiting on aid packages from a couple of other schools as well as CMUs package so although CMU is top choice we need to have the aid information before making a decision. It seems a bit unfair that the packages are arriving at such different rates to different parts of the country. I know it is important to get a good place in the housing line.

Ok all you moms, get back to work so you can pay this big tuition bill coming…

^^Surprised nobody flipped out on this guy yet…

Just joking…my wife is one of the moms…

And you’re just the dad. I get it now.
