congrats to those who got in!

I am proud of you guys, but in shock about how many deferrals this year!
I think they sould have eliminated the early action and go directly to the regular decision mode only

That wouldn't help matters though. They'd have EVEN more applications to go through at once, and it would slow the entire process down.

At least now they can admit SOME people for the EA round. I think it's more effective this way. Granted, I'm incredibly biased as one of the few people who somehow stumbled to get accepted.

I say stumbled because it seems to me that so many qualified applicants are getting deferred. So while I wish I could say that it's totally my hard work paying off, I think it's just because I submitted it quite early.

And that's my $.02.

I still think you were admitted because you may had had something in your app that was distinct from the other applications. you must believe you got in deservingly so.
My only concern is not only how many deferrals Bing had, but all over the country, schools are tighening out their belts and want at once become supercompetitive at the expense of not enough places to accomodate all these qualified students. I am not sure what are they to expect in the furture years. I always thought that you are to reach your potential during college, as you are exposed to all that colleges have to offer, not that you have to be an overachiever as you start as a freshman.
Chaos, I wish you luck, and enjoy the ride during college!

Multitasker, I wish I could believe in myself like that. I mean, the only thing I can say is I had FOUR letters of recommendation, from a research science teacher, a chemistry/biochemistry teacher, my guidance counselor, and my choir teacher. I think that having my choir teacher along with the mandated counselor, and my science teachers, helped make me a more well rounded applicant.

I wish everyone luck during the regular decision round. I feel for those who got deferred, because I know if I were in your shoes, I would feel the EXACT same way.
