and was admitted to each school but waitlisted at pepperdine. I was a little upset, but I have other options so its okay, but I wanted to stop by and congratulate everyone who was accepted because pepperdine obviously is a tough school to get in to, maybe even tougher than the top notch USC and UCLA! Congrats again! :-)

Gaucho congrats!
Any idea where you will accept? Are you staying on the waitlist?
My D is waitlisted also and only wants Pepperdine, willing to CC for a year and apply again
Any thoughts on why you were waitlisted when so many other terrific colleges accepted you?
We are trying to rework her file to shed more positive light on her.
By the way I have many ND friends who loved it!
Good luck in the decision process.

Around 5 of my guy friends, who all had lower scores and grades than me, were accepted by pepperdine. Supposedly, word on the street is that Pepperdine is trying to close its gap between females and males. Last year there were 600 more girls than boys, so I think this may be a big reason why many girls were waitlisted. If it is your daughter's dream to go to pepperdine than tell her to go for it and accept their waitlist, but I am not too sure about this whole CC thing you mentioned.. 2 of my friends who are girls accetped pepperdine's waitlist but sent their SIR to another university but are willing to withdrawl when their final pepperdine decision arrives. Though you may lose money by doing this, you are at least guaranteed an education somewhere, even if it is not your first choice. I personally denied pepperdine's waitlist and have decided to attend UCSB. I know I know, I turned down a lot of prestigous schools, but something kept luring me to UCSB and I think I will be truly happy there.
Tell your daughter that if she is meant to go there, she will! I hear almost 300 people were waitlisted so remind her that she is NOT alone. However, why is she so set on pepperdine? Please remind her that there are other great schools our there....

UCSB is a great choice. My D has 3 really good friends there that she visits regularly. It is beautiful and they love it. It is definitely one of the preferred UC schools.
Thanks for the guys vs girls info, I hear that is a trend. She is defintely set on Pepperdine.
She will actually be a Sophomore as she will have 33 units. She was accepted to several good options last year including Santa Clara, but decided to stay closer to home and went to Northridge. It was disaster. 3 police actions on her dorm alone, roommates from H*** too. She finished the semester and came home and that is why she is at CC. It is a very good CC with excellent transfer agreements. It made her really reevaluate and she intensely searched for the right school for her, setting certain guidelines. Thus deciding on Pepperdine.
So we will see, as a transfer she still has options and doesn't have the same deadlines.
Godd luck at UCSB!

It can really go either way with college decisions. I applied to 8 schools and was rejected/waitlisted everywhere but Pepperdine and University of Hawaii.
