Congratulations, but you've been tricked!

^Penn was seriously my favorite campus out of the ones I visited. It really has the right vibe. I saw JHU, Cornell, Columbia, NYU, Rutgers, and practically live on top of Princeton.

Lol fire alarms. When I visited Penn, I went to the October Fest in one of the frat houses..and a fire alarm went off. We all had to go outside. Oh well fire alarms make stuff more interesting sometimes lol.

Lol there are so many dumb people, you can't claim it's only urms/athletes/legacies. The legacies tend to be smart (due to smart parents), many athletes are smart too (and you can understand how their performance sufffers in-season), and I've met a few urms who aren't total disappointments. What's more common is kids who looked smart on paper - applied well, gamed the system - but are dumb in reality.

And any subject in the college is easier than Wharton. IMHO, in order of difficulty: SEAS > Nursing > Wharton > College.

Other than that, Lauke's right. Especially you prefrosh. You have no idea how much easier it is to apply and get in than it is to do well at Penn.

Haha, there was a fire alarm this morning at 12:30 where I live. Someone was baking cookies.
It's ironic but the cookies tasted good.

Omg, I'm bringing lots of cooking wares. I like home cooked food.

hahah lauke.. um you live in fisher on class of '28 side eh? might have seen you...

Yeah, how do those dumb kids get in?

But seriously, even the students who appear to be stupid can manage their school work and tend to do well.

I think when we say "stupid," we mean kids who aren't very articulate and might not know the capital of Argentina if you asked them. Doesn't mean that they can't write a great essay or do their calc homework, though. They're just culturally illiterate. I've been pretty impressed by some kids in even some intro seminars, though.

Haha, this actually reminds me of my first year in college. Two of my friends, one from Columbia and the other from Cornell, called me to bemoan the fact that it seemed like everyone in their freshman writing seminars was dumb. I think everyone has that experience, regardless of the college. There are just a ton of kids with 2250+ who can get into Ivy-League schools but can't speak a full sentence without glaring grammar mistakes and social faux-pas. Anyway.

really mattwonder, would you like to call the premed curriculum easy? maintaining the 3.75+ gpa and all? most premeds are in the college and i've heard nursing is total fluff (yes, from nursing students themselves)

um, the premed curriculum is tolerable if you maintain your focus and study hard (and you don't have to have a 3.75+ gpa, depending on your major and mcat score)

i'd say it's doing well in your intense major classes that's tougher

though orgo lab does suck haha

Wait so if these fire alarms go off for legit fires shouldn't that mean that Penn students are just more prone to lighting **** on fire? Maybe Penn does accept a lot of dumb kids if they can't stop from burning stuff down all the time...

i smiled reading what lauke posted. this is exactly the reason why i know i'd love UPENN [except number 4]

i mean it was just flooded with inside jokes [what's a school without inside jokes that when they speak, you know it's in english but you kind of have NO IDEA what they're talking about] and sarcastic HUMOUR.

beats a

"HEY EVERYONE!! CONGRATULATIONS!! WELCOME TO UPENN!!! YOU'LL LOVE IT BECAUSE

We are all happy and smiling 24-7

Our lessons are quite hard [noooo really, 'quite'?] but we still find time to have fun/

Housing is amazing, you get to meet so many new people and it's just great [i added this in particularly because housing in upenn hasn't been one of the thigns people boast about. YAY FOR PRETENTIOUSNESS]

ALL IN ALL, YOU'LL HAVE AN AMAZING TIME IN UPENN!! WELCOME!!"

though i'm sure the last line will probably still stay true :D

hahaha wharton classes are easy..i can see where that's coming from but the rest, too cynical

We would never be so lucky so as to have the high rises burn to the ground...

There are dumb people everywhere. It's not endemic to Penn.

i guess i dont feel so bad about not getting in then
