uhmm no i wasnt talking about scholarships. i was talking about financial aid. i know that scholarships are merit based. it's a given. im asking how can BU give merit based FINANCIAL AID...

depravity asked about merit based financial aid not scholarships. If you check another thread alot of people are getting like $3000 in financial aid to a $40000 school

One more question...is it common/possible to get involved with internships in the com program (journalism) as early as freshman and soph years? Are these internships usually paid this early on, or are they taken for credit? I'm really interested in trying out all sorts of different internships early on, so I'm wondering if that is a possibility at BU

That's really weird about merit based AID, I don't think I've ever heard of that before! Sorry about the confusion, but I can't help you with this one. I would call the office of financial assistance (or whatever it's called) and ask if you're really concerned.

As for the journalism internships:
You cannot take any internships through COM for credit until you have junior standing. They just changed the policy THIS year, so I was mad about it myself. However, you can go off on your own and try to get an internship whenever you want. One of my friends interns for a local news show, and she's a freshman, but she's not getting credits or money. However, she's making connections, which at this point is what we all really need (right, I should get on this next year...). As for whether or not your internships are paid, that all depends who you're interning for.

I didn't know they gave merit based AID. Thats CRAZY.

haha its okay, sorry if i was being a jerk, but im a bit frustrated because it's like "okay you're in, but pay up!" lol. im planning on calling them, thanks though. best wishes to those who are going. if things go well hopefully i'll see you guys in BU. ^^
