So happy for all the EA accepted students. My D is a JMU freshman and is very happy with her choice. As a parent I’m also very happy with her choice!
if you have questions, I’d try my best to answer them.
Hi and thanks so much for reaching out! My daughter was just accepted and seeing as it is her 1st choice she is over the moon! I am sure we will have questions as the months go on. We are from OOS (MA)
I also extend congratulations to all the baby Dukes!!! My dd is a junior honors student at JMU and it has been a wonderful university for her! I’m available for any possible questions regarding honors, etc. My dd is also a tour guide so she has a great network of people if you have questions.
Hi! My daughter was also admitted yesterday. This is her first and only choice and she is thrilled. If she didn’t get in, she said she would go to the local community college for a year and transfer in to JMU down the road. That is how strongly she feels about JMU. My son is currently a sophomore at JMU and he is doing very well. My two went to high school in VA and I live in MD about two hours away. But like you, my roots are in Massachusetts, and the kids have aunts, uncles and cousins up there. My two love JMU, and so do I. My son once said it best. He was accepted by three VA public universities (UVA, VA Tech, JMU), and he selected JMU. Now a lot of his decision related to his preferred major (SMAD). But I once asked him why JMU, and he told me that every time he visited the campus they were cutting the grass, there were flowers and trees everywhere, with mountains on both sides of the campus. He also said that everyone he met there was really friendly and helpful. Then he dropped the bomb on me… I feel like I am at Disney World. Well… that was it for me. If you have any questions I’ll also chime in if I can help. Congratulations to your daughter.
Congrats on your daughter’s acceptance JimmyMadDad!!! Re your son’s Disney World comment. my daughter said basically the same thing re JMU after we visited. She likened being on the campus to how she feels at her performing arts sleepaway camp (the place she regularly refers to as heaven on earth) so we knew then and there that it was her absolute first choice. And to make yesterday EVEN BETTER, she went back into her MyMadison portal a couple hours after she had first seen the academic acceptance and found a second letter informing her she has been accepted into the dance BA (she auditioned in November) and guaranteed a spot in the performing arts LLC in Wayland for next year. Pretty sure her feet have yet to touch the ground since getting that second letter (had she not been accepted into the dance BA, she was obviously still going to attend and would have done dance as a minor, but her dream was dance BA coupled with a concentration in pre-PT as she ultimately wants to be a physical therapist who specializes in working with injured performing artists).
