yeah and perhaps if all of us wait a while to make our deposits a little we might get some trickle down

Now that is the question. If people are waiting to tell them whether they are coming then how do they know whether there is money left over. Like they award say 20 or so Founders Awards and then only 10 of those go there. Then the money was set aside but someone didn't get $$ that could have. The inner sanctum of admissions??? I think the merit just comes up front and whatever is after is just need based so then merit aid doesn't come around again.

I don't think that's it, frosh. My son was awarded a full ride at an NC school last year and didn't use it, but we let them know right away that he was going to Tulane instead so they COULD give it to someone else. I think it's best to just give everyone the best info you can as soon as you can and, if you need more info from them, including knowing whether they can provide you with additional need-based aid or admission to the Honors Program, then ask for it.

Well that is the right way to do it and I hope more people do that. It opens up the resources or puts it back in the pool so to speak. This waiting process make us a little cynical as well as nervous. I received the acceptance about a week after sending in the app but still to hear on the $$ part. Just the no DHS letter.

The point is that you can go on-line (you still can, can't you?) and go to that webpage where they ask you whether you're accepting the acceptance, so to speak, and when you say you aren't sure, tell them it's because you need more information about scholarships or the HP or whatever it is that you DO want to know. That can help get information flowing. They really are still in a bit of confusion, so it can't hurt to direct their attention where you need it to go.

I hope you get everything you need.

Well, Called today and had to leave a message asking for at least an access # to the accepted students log in page. I didn't get a call back, but just a standard E-mail from Richard Whiteside with exactly what you mention above. Still no info to log in and they haven't returned the call. Will send an E-mail. They seem pretty confused there (somewhat understandable ofcourse) but doesn't make for good coordination. In fact they seem like they are still working in the dark with all I have read.

Check all of your correspondence from them, frosh. My son got his log-in # in pretty much the first personal letter they sent him. I'm sorry you're having so much trouble getting the info you need, but maybe you have this number somewhere and just don't remember seeing it. Maybe someone will drop by who can remember better than I exactly where that number was in their correspondence. I hope so. If you don't get an answer in a day or so, PM me and I'll call my son and ask whether he can remember which letter contained his log-in # so I can direct you to it.

I e-mailed them asking me to send me my acceptance letter, and they surprised me even more; they told me I'm invited into the Honor's program!

Well anonymous 99, go figure but great for you...Maybe they are so confused they don't get to it till you get to them. ...... Thanks ctymomteacher will see if my E-mail yields results (sent it as a response to their E-mail and thru the admissions site both. and then go from there. Checked both letters I have from them and definitely no number on it anywhere.

If you applied via the personal application...the password to the accepted students web site is the same as for the personal application. (At least it was for my duaghter).

for early action, i think most (if not all) awards were sent out 2 weeks ago. as for reg D, I have a friend who applied reg D and has already received his award (about a week ago), but who knows how disorganized admissions is now post-katrina... typically, ive heard on the website/ through the grapevine that founders is 1350+/top 10% of class and distinguished is 1450+/top 5% of class... im sure there are some exceptions, but it seems like the awards are extremely sat driven-hope this helps

They can also be based on ACT scores. My son's was.

yes, I should have said "standardized tests"- I'm sure they have similar cutoffs for the ACT

Suddenly all kinds of E-mail from Tulane and a note that they are continuing to review for partial scholarships. Interesting.............

well sounds like good news for yall... goodluck

Yes, we're pulling for you! Please let us know when you get the good news!

i didn't get any e-mail like that---hmmm---what are your stats froshtobe---could you post the e-mail text?
