Does anyone recommend applying to become a congressional page? Will it make a difference to colleges if they see that you attended? Will it have a negative effect on you academically because I read that you are not allowed to take AP classes...? You have to be a junior to attend and you will stay for one semester during the school year. Will it still be possible to take the PSAT in October or the SAT later in the year if you are at Page school?

I am open to any information/comments/advice.
Thanks!

i know someone that did this;

i think it would be a great (unique) experience that'd definitely boost your apps.
but only do it if you are willing to leave the activities you've been doin for a while or the important ones that take place durin ur semester in D.C.

& only do it if you have some interest in politics; otherwise i think it'd become kinda annoying.

:D good luck.

i would definiteley go, but its doubtful that your district has openings; mine didnt . i contacted both my senators and my one congressman, and there were no page spots given to them. some committee gives out the slots, and since the congress is democrat-controlled, you'll have a better chance of going (or at least have an opening) if your senators and/or congressman are democrats

I was a page...a bit of advice: do NOT do this program if your #1 concern is its prestige. You probably won't enjoy it if you don't have a genuine interest in what's going on. That being said, if you love government, it's amazing. You can also apply for a summer session. I believe pages do take the PSAT fall semester.

Hey mochamaven, can you talk about your page experience? i'm very interested
