Congressman Interview

I just made my appointment for the interview.

anyone have any advice or generic question that are used in the interview?
thanks

All but Coast Guard have Nomination interviews. If you look at other threads here (MOC=Member of Congress) MOC Interviews, and also for USNA, USAFA, and USMMA you should find a lot of info. Good Luck!

heres a vague list of most of the questions that i can remember from my 3 interviews last night (WP, AFA, NA)— double asterisks (**) means that that question was asked in every interview:

why do you want to go to the academy?
what is integrity?
explain a time when you had to make a difficult leadership decision.
*do you know the honor code? Recite it.
*do you plan on playing football at the academy?
what is the iraqi parliament voting on tomorrow?
why does the honor code exist?
*we saw that you’re applying to the other academies as well, be completely honest, are we your first choice?
how was your boys state experience?
what is happening in afghanistan right now?
what is your current class schedule and how are you doing?
we saw that senator lubbers wrote you a letter of rec, did you help with her campaign?
we noticed that you describe youself as the ‘good example’ in your personal statement, what makes you a good example?
Have you also applied for the ROTC scholarship? if so, at which schools?
where do you see yourself in 10 years?
*have you retaken or plan to retake the SAT/ACT?
*we noticed you received a D in Pre-Calculus 2X your sophomore year, how do you expect to go to the academy and pass calculus?
what do you want to fly if you become a pilot?
what will you be doing to remain physically fit so you will be prepared for the academy?
do you enjoy any other types of athletics besides football, rugby?
we see you ran for governor at boys state, did you win?
how does being the captain of the rugby team compare to the captain of other sports?
*do you have any questions for the panel?

these were the only ones i can remember. they are in no particular order or pertain to any particular academy. hope they help?

NCRC4,
In this thread, post #7, you say you are a plebe at West Point: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/military-academy-west-point/808887-will-i-competitive-applicant.html</a>, so why would you have had MOC interviews last night?

Maybe he meant to say last year.

I too just made an appointment for an interview.

Any advice on what to bring? Resume? Etc?

What will happen after the interview?

I think if you’ve already applied for a nom they’ll have your resume. What you should focus on talking about your experiences to put a face to that resume. And if you have a letter of assurance, definitely bring a copy of it (since you’d want to update all your files). most MOCs take that into consideration. hope this helps. best of luck to you.

last year when i had those interviews, i came home and wrote them down because i knew that other people would want them. i posted them in a thread. a year later when i was home on leave, i checked out the webpage again to see someone else asking that question. so i went to my post history and copied and pasted my post from last year and put it in this thread. easy. questions?
