Connection Between Language and Composition and SAT Essay?

Hey,
I was wondering how much a connection there is between these two because my AP Lang teacher makes us write an essay every week.
I am taking the SAT in March and was wondering how much time I should devote to the essay portion if I am doing this prep.

The new SAT essay (spring 2016) is very similar to the Lang rhetorical analysis essay.
