Hey, I just finished my 1st year and am looking to improve my chances of getting the ConocoPhillips Spirit Scholarship for next year. I was curious if anyone who has received this scholarship could tell me what qualifications you had that set you apart from other applicants. Or is there anything that they look for? Specific GPAs or Classes or Clubs? Also, if you could give some insight about what the interview questions are like? Thanks so much and Hook em Horns!

Honestly, it’s all about personality. They’re looking for students who will fit well with their culture. I applied my sophomore year, hadn’t declared my specific business major, and hadn’t done anything particularly spectacular my freshman year.

My application questions asked about major, career goals and aspirations, etc.

The interview questions were more interpersonal than academic. Everyone I’ve met in the program is really personable, friendly, and sincere. Let your personality speak for itself! I didn’t do much preparation for the interview except revisited my resposnes on the intial application.

Join the club of your major (or prospective majors). I think they liked that I dabbled in major-specific clubs, even though I wasn’t declared to any of them
