Cons of Applying Undecided

My first choice of major is probably computer science based off the research I have done and job opportunities, but I don’t have any experience in it and am not 100% sure I want to do it. I would like to apply undecided until I am sure of what I want to major in, but I feel like it could hurt me if I decide to CS in the future. Is applying undecided bad, and will it lead to less opportunities in the future.

Applying to:
San Jose State (For sure CS as a safety school)
Cal Poly SLO (For sure CS and hope I get in)
UC Berkeley (probably just going to apply under College of Letters and Sciences for CS)
UC Irvine
UC San Diego
UCLA
some more, just haven’t decided them yet

Depending upon your calculated eligibility index, SJSU may not be a safety school for CS. Last years EI threshold was 4500 for the SAT. I would convert your ACT and calculate. If your EI is at or above the threshold, then you stand a good chance.

For UCSD, if you do not get a direct admit for CS, it is VERY difficult to switch into the major later. The same can be said for UCLA and UCI. Even if you are not sure about CS, it is better to apply and change majors later. Always easier to move down to less competitive majors than up.

So I calculated a EI of just over 5000. Would that be a safety school then? That was without my newest ACT math score as well which could be improved.
