Consequences of taking the LSAT my sophomore year?

Hi guys,

I was thinking of buying some LSAT prep books and studying over this summer, and maybe again next winter break and taking it by Spring 2011. I'm a 1st year in college right now (Cal) and was wondering if there are any unexpected consequences taking it Fall or Spring of my sophomore year.

I only get one shot, if I recall correctly, and I don't want to think that taking it early as a sophomore will give me some sort of disadvantage.

thanks in advance.

Though many law schools now consider highest LSAT for admission, that is not true of most of your high ranked law schools, which will still consider the lower test score against you if you take it twice (or more). Thus, objective should be to take it once and score high and many are better off waiting for that one more year of college experience (and maturity) and take it after junior year, but it is an individual thing. There is also the issue of when you plan to apply to law school as many work for a few years after college before doing so and the test score is good for only five years.

There are a few LSs which won’t accept a score more than 3 years old.
