Conservative at Wesleyan?

@SpecOpsRigger - I am so excited by the prospect of a cohort of older students on the Wesleyan campus once again. I think it has been many years, probably not since the GI Bill following WWII, that so many have been an active part of undergraduate life (including - I hope - athletics!) Idealism certainly doesn’t stop just because you turn 21 and it’s important to honor that. I also think it’s important to acknowledge you’re going to be the adult in many situations. That’s a pretty exciting place to be because, IMHO, if there’s any place that could use improvement at Wesleyan, it’s the adult presence on campus once the 9-5 workday is over. That’s been a diminishing part of the campus equation for several decades. I hope you guys bring dogs and walk them at night. I hope you bring lots of kids and stroll with them on weekends.

It’s probably too much to hope that you will chaperone fraternity parties (they may not exist by the time you get there.) But, I do hope you will shop on Main Street. That you will vote. In short, welcome to Middletown and don’t sweat the kid stuff.

Amen.
