Born and raised in San Diego I know that the city has it share of conservatives and liberals. We have our hippies, the pro-war people (duh, San Diego is a military city for goodness sakes), and the people who just dont give a shiz. I think the city voted republican in the last election.
Anyways, does anyone know the most prevalent political stance at UCSD? I know we're no Berkeley or Santa Cruz, that's for sure. And what are the views you might bring to the campus?

At least from what I can tell from the Facebook political view thing, it seems like most colleges, there is some slant to the left (its California for crying out loud), but we certainly have more to the right than you would expect in California.

I found it interesting though I don't run into many Moderates while viewing SDs on Facebook. Everyones either classified as Liberal, or Conservative (or even Very Conservative).

So make of that what you will =P

Yeah, I've heard that UCSD is more conservative, a lot of facebook people seem to be saying "Liberal" or "Very Liberal" though.

"Very" either way makes you sound VERY weird and VERY unapproachable. To me, anyway.

And WayyyToo, I think people like to think of themselves as more liberal or conservative than they really are. Seriously, a large majority of people are moderate, and I think that makes the most sense.

Conservativism and Liberalism are full of contradictions, and the Democratic and Republican parties are both associated with corruption.

I don't understand why anyone would want to attach themselves to a label like that.

Register to vote "Decline to State" :P It's the best.

I did! Getting to vote in one of either primary FTW!

yayyyyy!!!!

My thoughts exactly. :P

San Diego is one of the most conservative places in California, from what I hear, but the people who go to SD come from all over, so the student population isn't necessarily as conservative as everyone else.
Should be a change for me. I am coming from the Greenist place to the most conservative place.

I come from a VERY conservative little town. I'm hoping at least some people at UCSD won't be as narrow-minded- left or right.

The campus in general is [usually] quite apolitical. Some very vocal members on both sides, both liberal and conservative, however.
