My school is predominantly a certain ethnicity and I want to refer to this in my essay ( ties in with an EC I am heavily involved in). Would that be considered offensive? To say we are almost 75% a certain race?

not offensive at all.
so long as its fact. Unless you know percentages for sure, you might want to speak more generally. ie: “predominantly this race” or “mostly that race”

Bringing race or culture into an essay in and of itself is definitely not offensive, it is a part of the world we live in and should be celebrated. And if it is part of a club (we have an incredible Indian Club at our school) it’s all the better.

At the same time, make sure you are careful about your usage, as stereotyping an ethnicity (i.e. all asians are overachievers) or making negative remarks would be distasteful.

The bottom line is referring to a race is fine as long as you do not cross the line.

Good luck on your essay :)
