Considering both CS and ES: Colleges? Career prospects?

  • ES = environmental studies/science/engineering for simplicity

Hi everyone, I guess it’s a bit late to be figuring this out, but I’m trying to decide which colleges to apply to this fall. I’m pretty strong in STEM (got 800 in Math 2  ), less so in memorization (I’ve forgotten 95% of the vocab I learned in AP Lang last year ^_^;; ), and prone to orchestrating escapes from writing long literary essays. I’ve always wanted to do something to help the environment and find my environmental science class from last year very interesting, but I also took a computer science class last year that showed me how much I love coding.

I am definitely looking to pursue an environmental-/sustainability-focused career, but I’m not sure which major to choose yet (environmental studies/science/engineering/whatever or computer science/engineering), which one to minor in if I decide to choose both, whether I’d die from double majoring, if I can study abroad with either of those fields, etc. Thus, I’m hoping to find a college that has strong departments in both fields and a wide variety of elective classes to choose from in case I find yet another field I’m passionate about. Oh and a huge plus if there’s a thriving nerd culture at that particular school (unrelated, but if you guys have any info that would be great).

Also, as for the majors themselves, I know that computer science is applicable in pretty much every field, but is it more difficult to find CS job specifically in environmental-focused companies than to find any ES job?

Thanks in advance guys! Plz let me know if I need to post more of my stats (and which ones); I really need the help
