Considering dropping science senior year...

OK, so, I hate science with a passion, and I don't want to take it. I plan to major finance/accounting/something in business and I have no intention whatsoever of even looking at careers in science. Should I suck it up and take AP Enviro or do you think I should drop science? If it had no effect on college admissions, it's a no-brainer, I'd drop it. But I think it does matter a little.

BTW, I'm doing registration next week, and forms are due on friday.

So here's my course selection as of now:
-AP English
-AP Calc AB
-AP Economics
-AP Euro

Colleges I'm looking at:
-NYU Stern (ED)
-Carnegie Mellon (Tepper)
-University of Michigan
-Etc. Etc.

Thanx!

If you hate science, and you don't need to take a science class, you shouldn't take one.

You are fine and might consider taking some business-related course senior year if you are really interested in the subject.

If you'll replace the science class with a worthwhile one (preferably a business-related class, including statistics), then drop it. If you plan on taking no science in favor of an extra study hall or something, don't do it.

BTW, the closest thing they have to business at my school is Econ. Do you think they offer accounting or something like that at a Community College or online or something?

Some colleges have whole departments dedicated to accounting.

While not having science senior year will have an effect, I don't think that it is as damaging as, say, no math or no english, particularly with 4 AP classes. Play to your strengths, and maybe mention in an interview that you were concerned about knowing your limits, with 4 AP's and whatever else you do, and so you couldn't fit in science

Thanx for the help....

I've decided on AP Enviro because I wasn't sure if I was going to get placed into AP English. My english teacher gave me the "I'll talk to the department chair about that" line, so I'm guessing she's disguising a no.

i hate sciences as well. i'm a senior, and i didn't take a science this year. i'm not sure if we're in the same boat though, b/c i took 2 sciences my junior year (physics (not AP) and ap chem). and this year, i'm taking 2 maths (stat and cal). i don't think sciences are that vital.

but think of it this way. if you were on the admissions committee for a school, would you choose someone who took an off campus instead of AP envro? if you take other AP classes to off set not taking an AP science like AP human geog, AP psychology, AP art history, or some "humanities" course, you should be fine. just show the colleges that you're still working hard (via taking AP level courses)

I've just decided to take AP Enviromental next year too, haha (wasn't sure because already had three APs - max most people take are 2 - but I took AP Chem this year and compared to AP chem it's 2398x easier lol) along with AP English, Francais and AB Calc :[ I kinda think I shouldn't be taking that many and that I'll kill myself over next year, what do you think? Nix the APES?

And also, good luck with AP Euro! Took that this year, oh my god lol - hardest class I've ever taken in my life. (but i'm just not a history person.) I'm taking Econ next year =] we have a lot of the same classes!
