Considering transfering to NYU, but I have two questions:

I'm a second-year biochemistry major at Stony Brook. I'm a TA in the biology and chemistry departments, my GPA is extremely high and I am top in my bio and chem classes.

First, EXCLUDING ANY FINANCIAL FACTORS, how does the NYU biochemistry program compare to the Stony Brook program? In other words, which school would greater heighten my chances for getting accepted to a very good medical school (given that I do just as well at NYU)?

Second, with my GPA, SBU ranking, my TAing, and a recommendation from a chair from SBU as well as various other credentials, how much would my SATs (580r, 580wr, 680m) hurt my chances for acceptance as a second year transfer?

Stay where you are - med schools want to see very high grades and very high MCATs. Now, if you want to write tv-plays for “House” . . . maybe NYU.

Ha, care to elaborate?
