Considering transferring to UC Berkeley

I am originally from Boston, but since 2010 I have been a resident of southern California. I graduated from Boston College in 2009 with a BFA in English Lit, minor in Latin. Since I moved out west I have attended CSULB part time while figuring out what my next move would be. I have always been impressed with UC Berkeley's Comparative Lit program and understand it's one of the best in the country; but my issues aren't with the school and the education I'd get, it's with Berkeley. I honestly don't know if I can deal with granola and Birkenstocks or people being whiny little hipsters all the time. Now I know I should simply focus on my education instead of sweating the small stuff; but really two years in a place dealing with issues that aren't really small can be burdensome. I can't speak for Berkeley, but San Francisco is disgusting and Oakland is probably the only place in America that is better off than Flint or Detroit, Michigan right now. I'm the kind of person that will never make myself involved in someone else's business, and from what I've heard from at least 10 people from back east that have visited Berkeley is that Bay Area people do not follow that same code of conduct and have something to say about everything . So before this turns into a rant, I would love some feedback from a resident of the area or an alum, and don't be biased; if you were to ask me why everyone from Boston is so miserable I would tell you because it's always cold and the people suck so unless it's July don't bother. Much obliged.
