Considering transferring to UT next fall?

I am currently a freshman at UNT and am not entirely interested in returning next fall. (I know, I know, I've only been here at UNT for a few months, so I'm giving it one more semester to be sure.) When I decided to come here in the first place, it was for UNT's strong studio art program, but I decided to switch to art history before I even graduated from high school - realized I was much more interested in the academic side of art than actually producing it. Despite being enrolled in two honors courses as well as two sophomore-level classes, I am finding that I am not being challenged at all, and I get the impression that the upper level art history classes aren't very challenging, either. I am planning on ultimately earning an M.A. and possibly a Ph.D., so I want (if not need) a quality undergrad education. I don't feel like I'm getting that at UNT, and beside that, I don't really want to spend 4 years here, so I am once again on the college hunt.
So I guess what I'm wondering is, does anyone know much about the quality of the art history department at UT? I know that in general, UT has a better academic reputation than UNT and from the website I can tell that UT offers many more art history courses than UNT. However, I would like to hear from someone who is familiar with the department. Any input would be greatly appreciated. :)

I am a freshman at UNT too and feel the exact same way as you. I am, however, an engineering major but am in Art history with professor mickey abel for my arts credit! I completely agree with you 100% though, I feel that UNT is not for me and their academics lack the prestige that UT austin has to offer
