Considering UCF

Hi Everyone! I'm new to the forums and am currently beginning my search for which college/university I want to attend. I'm seriously considering UCF, mainly because of the location (who doesn't love FL?) and also the hospitality management program, something I'm very interested in. I'm just wondering...

How hard is it to get in to UCF? I'm an A/B student, which a 3.3-3.5 average GPA. I don't do a TON of volunteer work, but I do participate in a lot of out of school sports/activities, which I've heard is very important when applying to colleges.

If I chose to take the hospitality management program which, from what I know through research, is not actually on the UCF main campus, would I have to commute from there to the main campus for classes, or is everything for people majoring in hospitality management located on THAT campus?

How are the dorms at UCF, mainly at the hospitality management campus? I'd most likely stay in a dorm for my first year, then move in to an apartment or something for the rest of college.

Finally, how is the business program at UCF? Getting a business degree, even if not an MBA, is something I'd seriously consider doing because it would open a lot of doors career-wise.

Any other info about UCF or anything that comes to mind about living in Central Florida would be very much appreciated.

Thanks! :)

You would probably get in.

I know the hospitality program is very good and the dorms are 4/2 apartments with full kitchen. i don’t know much else.

What could I do to up my chances of getting in if my GPA and/or ACT/SAT scores are not high enough?

Anyone else?

It would be easier to know where you stand more exactly if you had test scores. BUT if they are in decent range but just barely not enough, you could always reapply for summer and they would let you in with lower grades/test scores.

In my opinion, your sat scores/gpa are high enough for UCF. I’m guessing you’re a junior in hs. If so, if you want to raise your chances of getting in, get better grades and retake the SAT/ACT for a better score. UCF weights these two factors heavily. I don’t know much about the programs at UCF, because I’m relatively new to the school. I do know they have a great hospitality management program, as well as a good engineering program.

you could totally get in. My friend applied to UCF when she was graduating and she didnt have a GREAT GPA and she made a 22? I believe on her ACT. So id say your chances are pretty good.
