Is it possible to consistently hit 12s on the essay section? I know there is a degree of subjectivity in the essay grading, but do they mark very formulaicly (if that is a word)? As in, if you have x, y, z, not many noticeable grammatical errors, you get a 12?

I mean don't the graders have a small handful of minutes for each essay?

I’m not too sure if there is a formula, but a 12 means a WOW. If you can make your markers think, wow, that was a good essay, then they give you a 12.

Little to no grammer mistakes, usually a misspelled word is noticeable since these guys read each essay in 30-45 seconds.

Length, a controversy is that there is a direct relation between score and length. People have studied and found this to be true. So make the essay as long as possible without being to fluffy.

4 Paragraphs. 1 intro, 2 examples/reasons and explanations, 1 conclusion.

Get a 12

I am wholly surprised that I received a 12 on my essay. I used 3 examples, topic sentences, and a very cookie-cutter format. Oh yeah, I also filled up both pages.
