Accepted, but damn it i can’t go because i got ed into wharton! Why?!!! T.t

**Just want to clarify something…

“The Admissions Committee has completed its review of the Early Action applications and
has decided to postpone a decision on your application until our Regular Decision round.
We expect to reach a decision on your application and notify you by April 1, 2010.”

Is that the beginning of the deferral (i think it is), or is it just a postponing of the decision?**

So much anxiety for not getting in…Was kind of hoping for acceptance, but wouldn’t have been surprised by a rejection (mainly my GPA). I’m sort of in a state of shock, pulled both my not being accepted (what I was hoping for a while) and not being rejected (by my GPA)

Also, I didn’t add any personal info because I didn’t really want anyone to find me =P. And to anyone else rejected, don’t worry - you’ve heard this before, but I think you’ll all end up somewhere you’ll love =).

And to everyone who got in, congratulations :D.

Deferred

Stats:[ul]
[]SAT: 2300 superscore
[]SAT II: 800 Math II, 760 Chem
[]ACT:
[]GPA: 3.95ish UW (we weight but I think this is recalculated unweighted); that is with ~10 AP classes.
[]Rank: We dont rank, but top 1st decile
[]Other Tests (AMC, AP, IB): AMC: 120, 103.5 (I hope the second score didnt affect me because I didn’t even have to report it. I guess honestly hurts if it did affect me); AIME: 10, 8
[/ul]Subjective[ul]
[]Essays: Cant really say but my parents said it was okay.
[]Teacher Recs: Didn’t see
[]Counselor Rec: Didn’t see; each counselor has 500 kids! No counselor in the school knows their students that well.
[]Supplementary Material: I sent in a research paper over sports statistics. Nothing that great but I dont have the access to professors over the topic that I did (because there are few people that do this). I guess my dad was right: he coulda gotten me a lab over biology and done something with Siemens (some of my friends got Siemens this way), but I went with something I actually liked and passed on the better opportunity to win the award because I liked the experience better than the final destination.
[]Hook(recruited athlete, legacy, Nobel Prize): USAMO (well, I guess it isn’t really a hook)-I was the only one from my school to qualify for USAMOx2 ever (we have a tenth grader that will eventually do it) even though so many people take AMC, but I don’t think they consider school background
[/ul]Personal[ul]
[]Location: Midwest
[]High School Type: Huge (1000 seniors)
[]Ethnicity: Asian
[]Gender: Male
[/ul]Other[ul]
[]Extracurriculars: Math Club (pres), Math Circle, Research (w/o professor), Tennis, Orchestra, I put fantasy sports (if that got me deferred I would be quite disapointed becuase its the same as other more “academic” ECs, and I actually self-analyze everything using math concepts-if an admission officer thought it was just a “video game”, I can tell you that it is not that at all…it requires a lot of historical analysis to predict player peroformance and I dont go by projected stats from ESPN-and this can be extended to real life analysis, like if I wanted to build a basketball team, I would first choose people with high assist/TO ratio rather than purely high assists (so Paul over Nash anyday) because it correlates better to winning).
[]Awards: USAMOx2, USNCO, National Merit, ARML… (I think I left out USNCO out of Caltech admissions though because people told me it wasn’t important since I came from a easy local region…I guess that was bad idea-I guess I should of not only put the top 5 awards but also additional awards like USNCO even if they weren’t in top 5)
[]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:[/ul]

Thanks guys for telling me how to put this in the proper format.

Good job to everyone that got in! Hopefully I can still get in RD.
I left out so many awards and ECs in my application because people told me “dont just make a list…” because it will annoy people. After this, I guess I’m going to learn from my mistake and make a list of all my ECs and send in multiple additional recs.
