Consolidated EA/RD 2014 results thread

Ok, everyone, with less than 2 days left until we get our decisions back, I thought I would go ahead and post this. You know the drill, remove the spaces, type your answer after the colons, and remove the 2 other decision choices.

Mollie, feel free to lock/sticky/whatever this before then.

And may the MIT admission gods smile down upon us.

deferred… at least it’s not rejection. Oh, well. I’ll probably be rejected in RD. It’s not like it wasn’t expected.

[li]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:[/ul][/li]I expected this. At least I have Chicago. I have to wait to hear from emory before I accept chicago’s offer, but I’m kinda glad I won’t be going to MIT. I had my doubts, and now I feel like it would have been too intense for me. I just want a place where I’ll be happy and get a good education. I think I would have been the person to have a nervous break down right before finals because of all the pressure. I want a good education, not a test of my limits. I guess some people like that sort of thing, but it isn’t for me. I’ve been doing it for the past three years, and I don’t need another four.

Rejected

Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I belong there.
Seriously, my mentor wrote me a 5 page recommendation. I’m a Siemens Semifinalist. My research project is based on one at MIT.
I’m decent at bridge design: http://bridgecontest.usma.edu/standings/zone_all.htm?28652-14666</a>
I tried very hard on my essays.

I thought they were going to reject me because I put down Unofficial Rubik’s Cube World Record (4x4x4 FMC) as one of my International honors. It’s true, but it’s not really confirm-able.

[]Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I don’t think I’m quite the usual applicant for MIT, in good ways and bad ways. I haven’t done any math or science competitions, but I think I really got through to them that I am passionate about my extracurriculars and am academically interested in things other than math and science—although those are my main interests, I also won in an essay contest and write for fun. I’m not particularly nerdy but have shown that I can do the work.
[*]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:[/ul]I’m just flattered that they’re considering me. ;)
