[li]Why you think you were rejected: My school doesn’t offer APs (its actually a good school though). I wasn’t into the whole college thing until late junior year, so i never even thought to sign up on my own. I realized the problem and tried to remedy it with perfect SATs and SAT IIs, but i guess that wasn’t enough. I think the lack of APs hurt me most. Also, being white and from Long Island couldn’t have helped. [/li][/ul]

Essays: All based on my experiences with research, community service. They were unique but simple in their thought process. I think I wrote them well. Teachers loved them.
Recs: Very good recs. An additional rec from my research mentor, which also should have been very good. Esp since he was attached to a prestigious institute.

Summer Activities: CTY, Research at a university, Extended Essay, Community Service.
More research. More community service.
Hook(recruited athlete, legacy, Nobel Prize): Research and my passion for science. All my essays went back to the same two points.

Student Council. RESEARCH. Music. Theater (with awards and plays under belt).
Awards: A lot of academic/extracurric awards from the school. A few more awards but nothing too significant, and not science related.
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Not really sure, I’m guessing it was because I made it a point to make my application reflective of me. There were so many tenets of my personality that I couldn’t show, but I guess the folks at admissions are considerate.
