[]Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I think my profile overall was good (SAT’s, GPA, Rec’s and essays were all great in my opinion). My interview went really well too.
[*]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:[/ul] I’m just so happy right now. Not sure if I’m going to attend, but this is definitely very awesome. Good luck to those deferred and to those rejected, you’re still amazing people because you applied to MIT EA, which is like one of the most selective schools in the country, so I’m sure you all have great stat’s and activities.

[]Other Tests (AMC, AP, IB): APs // Soph yr: Comp Sci AB (5), Junior yr: AP Language and Comp (5) Bio (5) Calc BC (5), This year: Stats, Government, French, Chem[/ul]
Subjective[ul]
[]Essays: decent. I thought they were okay when I wrote them, but after I submitted MIT and started working on my comm app essays I definitely liked my comm app essays a LOT lot more, and started liking my MIT essays a LOT less, haha. I have a very hard time writing short responses, esp. under 250 words! Though now that I look at them again, I guess they are pretty good. I attempted to write in a “lively” manner.
[]Recs: Pretty darn good I hope - how good? Not sure - I was a good student and my teachers liked me, but I was definitely never their “favorite” student.
[]Supplementary Material: Rec from professor I worked with over the summer / I also included a link to my art portfolio/website on the MIT app, but I’m not sure whether that helped or not.
[]Summer Activities: 6-wk endocrinology research internship in Boston, art program, reading, college classes in Physics and Psychology, Natl Symposium for Debate (NSD), and traveling!!

[]Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I’m not sure! Maybe a combo of the science-loving-me and the artistic-me?
[]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: I absolutely didn’t expect it. I think my interview went very well though. I’m just really thankful and I feel quite lucky to be me  I’m so glad to be free for winter break! (Going to travel … but I’m also going to start brushing up on my physics/CS/Bio knowledge :stuck_out_tongue: ) Since I stayed in Boston for 6 wks this summer (my first time ever in the east coast!) I have a good feel for the city, and it’s a wonderful area! I love jogging along the esplanade at night. Best of luck to everyone else! There are definitely a couple of wonderful friends I’m rooting for once RD come around

Another funny thing I thought I’d mention: when I first read the acceptance letter online, my eyes glanced over “pleasure to offer you admission” but it didn’t quite register, then my eyes flickered to the “congrats” at the end, then traveled to the middle where I read “fine print.” For a split second, my irrational-from-anticipation-self thought there would be some “fine print” on the bottom of the letter saying: “just kidding! You were rejected.” Haha, that would be mean.

[*]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: There’s plenty of good colleges out there. Besides, college is what you make it, and getting in doesn’t denote someone’s intelligence. [*]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: Obviously it was disappointing to be deferred. []Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I think it was my essays, my inventions, and my ethnicity.
[*]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: I think its all luck… being in a summer program like mites or rsi really helps getting into MIT, whether through recommendations or just the fact that you’ve had a taste of mit life and still want to go. MIT is an intense place but I cant see myself going anywhere else. Oh my interview was a disaster too. Good luck to the deferred![/ul]
