Decision: Deferred -> Rejected

Objective:[ul][] SAT I (breakdown): 22X0 - 760M, 7X0R, 750W[] SAT I superscore (breakdown): The above was in one sitting[] ACT (breakdown): 34 - 36E, 33M, 31R, 34S[] ACT superscore (breakdown): The above was also in one sitting[] SAT II:
[li]US History - 760[]Math II - 780[]Chemistry - 780[/ul][] Unweighted GPA (out of 100): About 95[] Weighted GPA: About 100[] Rank: Top 10%[] AP:[ul][]World History - 5[]US History - 5[]Environmental Science - 5[]Chemistry - 5[]English Language - 4[/ul][] Number of other EA applicants in your school: At least one other, other than that I don’t really know[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Nothing major except National Merit Semifinalist, but a bunch of minor local awards. I filled up the 5 slots on the app.
[/li]**Subjective:/b[ul][] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parentheses): Quality over quantity. I cofounded a club and participated in a bunch of STEM related clubs, and NHS and Boy Scouts.[] Job/Work Experience: None. I help my family around the house for money, but that’s not on the app.[] Volunteer/Community service: Lots from Boy Scouts and NHS[/ul]
Writing:[ul][] Essays (Include Subjects): I can’t judge that myself. I got good feedback from everyone who read them.[] Teacher Recommendation #1: Waived my right to view. The teacher has known me since sophomore year, and I think it will be good.[] Teacher Recommendation #2: Waived my right to view. The teacher has known me since junior year, and I think it will be good.[] Counselor Rec: Waived my right to view, but my guidance office is good about writing useful recs based on info we (me and my parents) provide them.[] Interview: It went well. Not great, not poorly. On a scale from 1-10, I’d rate it a 7.[/ul]
Other[ul][] Date Submitted App: mid-October[] State: NY[] School Type: Public, top 100 rated by Newsweek.[] Ethnicity: Didn’t say on app, won’t say here.[] Gender: Male[] Income Bracket: Didn’t say on app, won’t say here.[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None that I know of.[/ul]
Reflection[ul][] Strengths: Rigor of senior year course load, quality over quantity in extracurriculars, potentially essays and recs.[] Weaknesses: Potentially interview (it didn’t go poorly, but I don’t think admissions learned anything new from it), lack of quantity of ECs (but I did fill all 5 slots), lack of anything that shines out (unless the essays or recs did).[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Impossible to really know.[li] What would you have done differently?: Nothing. I did my best, I have no regrets. It’s actually kind of a burden off my shoulders, since it’s unlikely that my family would be willing to pay when I have other options with large scholarships.[/ul][/li]General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations, etc:
Good luck to everyone else!
