Hey guys do you think you could chance me as well? thanks

Stats:
School: American River College

GPA: 3.918 Dean’s List
I got A’s in all my math classes, physics classes, and sciences. My only B came from honors english. lol
EC’s: MESA, Phi Theta Kappa, Work Experience, former US Naval Sea Cadet
IGETC: I will have most done by the time i transfer for junior standing. Unfortunately I will be missing one programming class that if I am not mistaken is NOT explicity required.
Essays: Im not gonna lie, im not that great at writing. It’ll be slightly above average at best.

Chance me please!!
School: CCC I’m an Internation student.
Major:Poli.S(UCLA), Poli.Econ(UCB), Econ(USC,SD,CSUN)
GPA: 3.51(3.64 in the Fall)
Major GPA: 4.0
prereqs done Fall 2009, IGETC by spring.

UC Berkeley
UCLA
USC
UCSD [TAG]
CSUN

EC:Public Relation chair in an Internation Stu Club. I worked full-time in restaurant on my first 2 semesters (because my parents had financial problems after I had arrived). I’m hesitating to mention that in my PS. I think i have a good grade trend too since I only got only A’s after I quited the job

Essay: I’m not a very good writer, but I think my PS would be very personal. I have many peers as well.

jpanda, I think it might be a bit tough to get into Berkeley and LA, especially because you’re an international student. I can’t say for USC, but UCSD and CSUN - you’re in.

does anyone else feel that maybe tap isnt all that important? ive seen people tell others that they have slim shots at poly sci with a 3.8 and no tap. idk if its just me…but i feel like tap is more important when youre in the 3.3-3.5 range…maybe 3.6 too. depending on your major but many people on this thread have been admitted to ucla without tap. correct me if i wrong. please lol i just want know.

It’s been discussed here on many occasions, but the general consensus is that TAP is meant for borderline UCLA applicants, those that have a GPA around the range you stated and feel that they may not get into a popular major like Poli Sci or Psychology.

It’s also great for people applying to the big 2 (Comm and BizEcon) with a GPA under 3.8 and without notable business or media internships/work experience.

For anyone else, it’s sort of irrelevant. Even with the budget crisis, a 3.8 student applying to, say, Poli Sci at UCLA with all necessary coursework completed should not be rejected.

edelynly thank you XD. so what is my chance then if I apply to non-california universities(say like Uni of Michican Ann or Uni of Texas Austin)? Does anyone have any idea?

SFwarrior25, I think 3.918 GPA is more than enough to say that your chance is pretty high. My international student friend whose major is the same as your got into Cal and LA with 3.9(but he refused to both -_-"), so i think your chance is pretty high ;).

You’re in at both schools, SFwarrior. I have great respect for anyone who can get a 3.9 in MechE and I’m sure admissions feels the same. Take it easy.

I’m hoping to transfer to a UC! Please chance me!

School: OUT OF STATE community college
GPA: 4.0 (3.4 last fall)
Major: Asian Studies
pre-reqs (except UCLA) and IGETC done by Spring (maybe summer :S)

EC: volunteering at elementary school abroad in Japan, gonna try and do work-credit at a local government agency, not as much as my high school ec’s

Essay: I’m not that much of a writer, but I feel I can write up something interesting.

Applying to:
UCLA
UC Davis
UC Irvine
CSU Fullerton

Yeah, regarding the TAP thing, I’ve been psyching myself out this week (first week of the semester) debating on whether or not I wanna do an honors contract for UCLA TAP. But, I have a 3.75 as of now, and I’m an anthro major. Is it even necessary?

I mean, with that GPA and major, you know you’ll get in, but say (though God forbid) you don’t get in… You’re going to regret it, you know? Better safe than sorry.

Evan…can we take 15 honors units in one semester? I was thinking about that next semester…But i dont think they are going to let us! I dont think I am going to do tap. My cousin got into cal and ucla without a single honors class. I think we can do it too! We are smart people!

I talked to Dr. Primoza over at Mesa college and she made it very clear that risking getting a B in an Honors class, when you know you would get an A in the regular course, was not a good idea, if applying to Cal. She said Cal puts very little stock in Honors classes, unless you are Honors certified within the SDCCD. The requirements for Honors certification are 10 hours volunteering, going to 4 Honors club events, and completing 15 honors units.

Applying to Cal only for political science in L&S

Current School: UCSD Major: Poli Sci GPA: 3.95 (4 A+) EC: Cycling Team Prereqs: I’m pretty sure I’ll have UC Reciprocity and major prereqs done by Winter 2010. Notes: Considering the widespread belief that transferring from another UC is harder, I’m not completely sure if I should count on having this option in April. For any past UC-to-Cal transfers, did you explain why you were leaving your particular UC?

Applying: UCLA (PoliSci), UCB (Media Studies), UCSD (Comm), UCI (Film & Media),
USC (Comm), Cornell (Comm)
GPA: 3.65
IGETC/Pre-Reqs: Done with most, 1 science w/ lab and 1 pre-req in Spring
Transfer Programs: none, but on dean’s list
School: SMC
Essay: Will be good!
Units: 60 by spring
EC’s: Senior class press, Asst drum major. Non traditional student, worked for 5 years in publishing industry. Held manager title for 3 years, 2 years Director. Been on 2 major industry committees. First generation student, Mex-Amer

GPA: 3.94 (Molecular Bio major)
EC’s: Alot from HS
Essays: Good essays
Units: 84 (will complete by spring)
Have done all prereqs already + electives.

I’m transferring from out of state community college.
Am I in good shape for OOS transfer?
