** consolidated list of ap exam curves **

I know it's a while before school / AP exams start...

This list was originally made by Jamesford. His old thread died however and his list wasn't 100% accurate. Also, I made a few edits by adding more data / changing some curve info.

Also, If you’re good at math, you should be able to figure out how to calculate your composite score by looking at the exam section weights / total # of questions.

-
Example: AP Psychology
Composite Score = 150 pts (TOTAL pts on this test)
Section I is 66.67% of grade so it’s worth 100 pts to the Composite score
Section II is 33.33% of grade so it’s 50 pts to the Composite score

So, each MC is 1 pt (there’s 100 MC questions) and there’s a total of approx. 14 FRQ points so each pt u get on Section II is worth 3.571 composite pts.

Also, keep in mind the curves shift from year to year but these give you a pretty good idea about what u need for a 5/4/3/2/1.

Lastly, be sure to check new posts on this thread. People might’ve posted some new info about curves… this is just what I got from Jamesford / other people posting AP curves.

Anyways, here's the list: (Most of this was done by Jamesford)

Environ Science

thanks a lot - very informative

What’s the curve for APES?

Why am I getting the feeling that this year, AP Eng Lang is gonna be a *****…?

I think Environmental Science is almost the same as AP Bio in terms of grading, but it has an easier curve.

^ That’s what I have heard.

How did you get a score of 150 for biology?

SO I CAN GET LOWER THAN A 93/150 AND GET A 5? Please say yes :S I’m seriously not doing well with my APES self-studying.

I would guess 85 at the very least, in actuality probably somewhere around 90. That’s not a very good score, lol. 60%. Then a 4 is maybe 50%, and a 3 40%. I’m sure everyone who cares about their score will do fine on APES.

Macro is so mean. =(

I got 47.5/90 raw score (52.8%) on a practice test. That translates to a 3.

Are you people sure than the curve is that harsh?

@ryanxing: Your score should be between a 3 and a 4; it really depends on how well other students perform on test day/the difficulty of the exam.

Anyone noticed how English lang and comp is higher and higher every year?..

^2007. The curve to get a 5 is 110.

GoPo and Euro don’t seem too bad… thanks Equilibrium, very helpful

I have to make a change for one of the exams. for 2007, a 60/100 would be enough for a 5. A 49-60 would be enough for a 4.

Does anyone have the 2004 or 2009 AP Physics C Released Exam, if yes, could you tell me the curve for E&M for that particular year?

for physics C E/M, usually a 57-67% will cut it for a 5.

Interesting, I’d think the curves on these two tests would be flipped… 67% of the MC questions doesn’t seem so bad, especially since a 4 would honestly suffice. Though I’m looking forward to a breeze on AP World though.

Are these updated to factor in the curve after AP took away the guessing penalty?

Probably not, but the curves will similar, but slightly higher by a few points. Like the curve for APES, to get a 5 you need about 107/150 composite score.
