Writing (Subject, 1-10 rating, details):[ul]
[] Essays: (I liked most of my essays pretty well, but not sure how admissions felt!)[list]
[li] What You Do For Pleasure: Board Games, 8, Liked this one first one I wrote, felt like I did a good job consolidating a specific imagery and emotion into 100 words[/li][] Department at MIT: Physics, 7, I felt kind of limited here by the space but thought I did a decent job gave some brief imagery, specifics at MIT, glittering generalities
[] Trait Most Proud Of: Curiosity, 7-8, Lots of good specifics in the essay, but some of the generalities could have been improved on a little bit
[] World You Come From: Community + Friends, 6, My least favorite essay, talked maybe a little too much about my dreams/aspirations and not enough about world I come from
[] Significant Challenge: 7, I liked it when I wrote it, but in retrospect its not exactly clear what Im talking about in some places
otherwise good.
[] Additional Essay/QB Essays: Cultural Background Norwegian heritage 7 Gave a nice other dimension to me, some good humor in there as well, glad I wrote it
[] Other (teacher’s subject, 1-10 rating, details):[/ul][li] Teacher Recommendation #1: Math, didnt see but guessing 9-10, my Calc BC and Linear Algebra teacher she really likes and is impressed by me, but didnt see it so cant say anything for certain[/li][] Teacher Recommendation #2: AP US History, didnt see again guessing 7-9, very fun guy, hear he writes good recs, I was always great in-class but wasnt as good at getting homework in but overall our relationship is pretty good, so I think the rec was fine
[] Counselor Rec: Caught a glimpse of it, looked 9-10, school VP and administrator of the STEM magnet program, likes me a lot, and heard her recs are fantastic
[] Additional Info/Rec: Nuke project abstract, comprehensive list of scioly awards, pretty standard letter from Research mentor
[] Interview: 6 Did not go over that well. I wasnt too prepared, and she made me basically read off my entire resume, so I didnt really get much as far as personal qualities in, even though it ended up taking like 100 minutes. Also, at one point I said that I tend to defer leadership roles to other people
oops. But, I think she liked me and was impressed with the stuff I did, so overall probably helped.
