I'm only a junior in high school but I think about college every single second of the day. Is this normal? I know I can't be the only one. It's just that I am really eager to get into my dream school.

No it’s not normal. It’s frankly very bizarre. You think college is some Xanadu? It’s what you’re doing right now that counts. If all you can think about is college, I would imagine it’s extremely limiting and you may be more shallow than you think you are.

Please look to your family, friends, teachers and community. They need you now. They don’t need a version of you in 7 -8 years with perhaps a degree that puffs you up but you’re left with no character. They need you engaged now.

Then I guess I am bizarre too. I think about college nearly every day. It is more so of the fact I can’t wait to explore the world and places outside of my town. It really makes me excited. Yet, I am a freshman so…

It’s perfectly fine. I am a freshmanan d am constantly thinking about college. My friends who have no idea what they’re gonna do with their life think if crazy though

It’s normal. But remember, we’re always looking forward to the future without remembering that the present is pretty nice. You’ll miss these days eventually. Don’t take them for granted.

College is not a guarantee – an infinite number of things can happen between now and college that could potentially derail you from a future you have in mind. You need to be present and aware of your life currently. While its nice to daydream, college needn’t be the only thing occupying space in your mind; what about your school work? Family? Friends? Don’t worry about college right now - there will be a time to worry about college (i.e. Christmas Break of your Senior year) – for now, just focus on bettering yourself in all aspects.

10/10

Such as death, in which case, all this worrying will have been a waste of time.

@CE527M – I was thinking of less morbid matters, haha; like OP decides over the summer that maybe he wants to go to the military or perhaps take a gap year for community service or job training. But I suppose dying, too, would derail your plans for college, lol.

This is my 5914th post, so I probably also spend too much time thinking about college. I know what it’s like and I don’t think I’m overrating the experience in my head or anything, but I tend to focus too much on the future in general. Sometimes planning stuff is more fun than actually experiencing it.

Yeah, hell only has community colleges. >:)

sigh CC kids these days…

No, it’s not wrong at all. It’s the main thing on my mind. My SAT prep courses start in nine days, and I can’t wait! I really want to get my prospected SAT score (1790) and get into my top choice colleges. Don’t worry, I didn’t even want to take midterms haha.

You should probably have other thoughts, such as schoolwork, but it is normal to be considering it often.

Don’t worry, I think a lot about college too… especially this time of the year, when my decisions will be here in about 7 weeks. OTL I’m also constantly thinking about the summer programs I’ve applied to because I really want to find out if I got in…

I’m a sophomore, and I already have my top 10 list. Of course I am not a normal person either…

You’re asking people on a site titled COLLEGE confidential if it’s normal to think about college.
We wouldn’t be here unless we were thinking about college too
It does seem like you’re a bit too obsessed though… chill out, dude. College is not your be-all, end-all Just remember to not obsess over college. Moderation is the key to life.

I do but probably in a different way. Idk chilling with my friends, vaping, studying for classes that I actually care about. Almost everything about high school is fkin lame.

I am exactly like you. I think every second of my junior year thus far… It’s been getting in the way of me actually studying
