I would greatly appreciate any info that anyone has about Porter and it's current reconstruction state. It's one of my top choices but I'm concerned about loud jackhammers and noises waking
Me up early in the morning. I've alsoheard that since the renovation the vibe at Porter has been affected, as less people spend time in the quad. Is this true?

Well there will be less construction next year than there is right now. Currently B dorms and the dining hall are being renovated. Next year it’s just A dorm. I’m not sure about the noise situation and hours, but the quad is definitely not as active as it has been in the past. Maybe now that it’s spring people will liven up, however.

Thanks kewkiekid but isn’t the dining hall actually going to be remodeled
Next school year? And would you say that the construction interferes enough with porter that it might just be a better idea to choose another college?

remodeled, renovated, I can’t keep it straight. There’s so much construction on campus it’s hard to remember what they’re doing to each building. But they’re working on the dining hall to bring it up to current standards and increase dining capacity. Honestly, I wouldn’t want to live at Porter right now. HOWEVER, I’m totally biased because I lived there for 3 years and couldn’t imagine going from my porter to this porter. I don’t think it’s bad, it’s just different and would be a difficult transition for me personally. The people are porter are still awesome, and once construction’s complete it should be better than ever.

what about the kresge remodeling I heard about?

I recently visited campus and didn’t see
Any construction being done at kresge. As far as I know there isn’t any going on. The only thing is that porters dining hall is being redone and kresge and porter share it
