American University just released a memorandum for “Summer Break Construction.” I specifically chose the most important ones and highlighted them and edited them into my own little list for all those interested!

Here are the changes listed:

New Construction Projects
- 4401 Connecticut Ave. (until mid-July)
- Cassell Hall Construction (until mid-August)
- Nebraska Hall Addition (until mid-August)
- McKinley Hall SOC (through November 2013)
- WCL-Tenley-Rebuild for WCL. Campus closed. (June 2013 July 2015)

Major Renovations
- Letts Hall renovation of south side and lobby space (May 13 August 2)
- Butler Pavilion Shops Renovation of former McDonalds (June 1 November 2013)
- Mary Graydon Center Renovation of TDR seating area (south side) and Room VI (first floor) (May 13 August 16)
- Mary Graydon Center Renovation of first floor retail food service spaces (June 1 August 16)
- Ward Circle Lobby Upgrade of lobby to create a new SPA identity. Pedestrians will be advised to follow traffic redirection. (June 10 July 31)

Any thoughts?

I’m extremely glad that AU is continuing and finishing the Nebraska Hall addition, Cassell Hall, and finishing the renovation of Letts Hall this summer. It really adds to the limited amount of dorms we had for students and represents AU’s shift to being a larger school.

I’m also happy that they’re finally doing something about the McDonalds space, adding new dining spots on campus, and renovating parts of TDR for a better dining experience. I’m really interested to see what they do with Ward Circle Lobby considering SPA’s lobby is pretty bland right now and could use some renovation.
