consulting clubs at cal?

hey guys, I'm thinking about joining a consulting club, but I've heard that there are several of them. can anyone give me more info on which one I should try to join?

The big ones are The Berkeley Group and Berkeley Consulting aka TBG and BC. Otherwise check out

Venture Strategy Solutions - Start-up focused consulting group
NetImpact
Voyager Consulting

Other general business clubs like iabc, pbl have consulting divisions.

BC and TBG are the hardest to get into. THe other one’s aren’t easy either but should be easier.

I’m actually in Berkeley Consulting, and honestly it was the best decision I’ve made in college.

We get to work with a lot of cool companies like Google, Microsoft, Intuit, and GE. We also do non-profits like Kiva and Habitat for Humanity, as well as startups. BC works with all types of companies, unlike the other consulting clubs. TBG only works with non-profits, Net Impact only does social/environmental projects, and Voyager Consulting and Venture Strategy only do start-ups.

It’s not just for people who want to work in consulting after graduation. There’s people from all different majors (engineering, business, philosophy, biology, english etc), and our alums work at startups, investment banks, tech companies, or go to medical school and even Teach For America.

Plus, we get to do a ton of fun stuff together - we’ve went paint balling, snowmobiling, lazer tagging, etc. We hang out a lot, and honestly the people I’ve met have become my closest friends at Berkeley.

*Shameless plug, we’re actually recruiting this week and have infosessions on tuesday and thursday. Go to bc.berkeley.edu for more info :)

Even though this thread is from a previous semester, I thought I would add a reply for any other students looking to learn more about organizations at Cal.

I’ve been with VC since it was started and its been an awesome experience. We work with tech companies of all sizes; some of our past clients include Amazon, Warby Parker, Twitch TV and Pinterest. Within these companies, we work with top level executives and managers to help shape strategy in a number of different areas. In just two years, those experiences have helped VC place alumni at institutions like Bain and Goldman Sachs.

Outside of the projects, we have tons of social events including casual kickbacks and weekend retreats. If you are interested, check out our new site at VoyagerConsulting.org

@VCBerkeley I know this was posted quite some time ago, but I am a newly admitted student, and I am quite interested in hearing more about Voyager Consulting as I believe I would like to join in the fall. I’ve checked out the website, but I would love to talk hear what VC is like from someone who has actually been in it. Additionally, I would like to know what makes VC different from TBG and BC.

I’d love to hear from you if you have the time, so definitely feel free to send me a private message.
