i've got a question about emailing the folks at admissions. i'm from new jersey, and i was wondering if there was any way of getting in touch with the regional admissions officer for the college of agriculture life sciences. (does CALS even have regional representatives? or are applications just randomly divied up?) its not listed but i just wanted to talk a bit with them.

also, do you think communicating a lot with admissions officers would be a bad thing? cause i dont really want them to think that i'm just trying to brownnose...

ok, you definately should contact admissions. Answering questions about the school is part of their job as admissions officers. It will not count against you , in fact, it can only help you by showing interest(just as long as you're not emailing them every day).

As far as a local divisision of admissions...it might be difficult to schedule something with someone local. However, once you put your application in, you might get call about scheduling an interview with an alum. The purpose of the interview is more of an informational thing for the student than it is for evaluating the applicatant...the person I had was very knowlegable, and could answer all of my questions about student life, ect. at Cornell. I think they do this for everyone, as long as their is a willing alum in your area.

Cornell has regional reps, but I'm not sure if they are CALS reps. I emailed my reps once, she emailed with very basic info and told me to email admissions for more detailed info. I guess if you want to skip a step you can directly contact admissions, and you should definitely communicate with them, it will only help you.

i don't think there's regional staff member who works for each specific college. i contacted my regional staff member often like 10 times throughout my application process, and she was always very helpful and friendly. she even forwarded some of my information that needed to be updated and corrected to the college i applied to. they prefer email over phone.
