After our tours/interviews and sending thank you emails/notes, some AOs replied that we can contact them if we need any help/have questions. Does contacting them show more interest in the school or is the offer just customary? Any of you parents contacted AOs after the tour? What are your thoughts and experiences? Thanks.

I only emailed if I had a genuine question…they’re so busy, that I don’t think emailing just to email does any good. Interestingly, the two schools where my son was accepted were schools we never contacted after the interview thank-you’s. I emailed the schools where he was waitlisted more than once with questions. Not sure that there’s any correlation, of course, but there it is. (It may be that the fact that I had questions meant the schools weren’t a great fit…)

If you want, I guess you may keep in touch with the AO as both parties see appropriate, but don’t expect the relationship will help your kid’s chances of admission - it may or may not. We’ve heard stories from students/parents who developed close relationships with AO’s or coaches and were convinced that they’d be admitted only to find out they were rejected on March 10.

I only sent a thank you note to the interviewers and the students who toured me around. I feel that I have an excellent understanding of the school. I don’t have any questions that urgently need to be answered.
