Contacting professors

<p>Sorry if this has already been asked before, but what are your opinions about contacting professors who you'd be interested in working for (like in their labs)? If you email them, what exactly do you say? Do you introduce yourself as a prospective applicant and ask if they have openings in thier lab for a possible rotation and say something general about how you are interested in thier research or should it be a bit more specfiic?</p>

<p>And also, is it too late to contact professors at this stage in the application process?</p>
