Hi. So I am a 9th grader who plans to graduate in 3 years so I am beginning the college search process. I was wondering if when contacting admissions officers, should I ask questions about myself and what they would prefer? Or do they only want to hear questions about the institution itself? My parents want me to ask them about my schedule and what they think about different class choices. I feel like this is not at all what I should be e-mailing about. Essentially, what are the right things to e-mail admissions officers about? Thank you.
It’s good you are thinking so far ahead. I’m a parent, so My opinion may not be current. I can’t imagine asking a rep for advice on your courses. I think you should be taking advanced courses in the subjects that interest you. You could also be fostering your ECs, because they matter to you, not just to look good for a college.
You can learn a lot about schools by taking the time to look at their website, viewing Their film or photos, reading about visits to the school, and of course, reading CC.
If you do contact a rep, just ask when they are doing a presentation in your area. Honestly, if you go to the main website, you can ask for brochure. They will likely send you notice when there is a local presentation
