Contemporary music school help...

Perhaps the Contemporary Improvisation department at New England Conservatory.

I always thought CalArts was contemporary or maybe just Jazz.

I was talking to the owner of Columbus Percussion, one of the nation’s top drum/percussion stores, and he told me that the drum faculty at Belmont University in Nashville has several great teachers there. He has also spoken highly of University of North Texas, though the program is jazz-based.

One school that hasn’t been mentioned yet is the University of Cincinnati CCM. They have a new commercial music program established just last year.

Drumkitmom - check out Humber College in Toronto. My son’s friend recently graduated percussion there.

I talked with John Owens at Cincinnati Conservatory and he was very friendly and helpful. They have two different programs, e-media which is more tech oriented and commercial music which is more business oriented.
