Continue EC even though I dont enjoy it as much

I am an Eagle Scout right now and I am not sure if I should continue to be active in participation. I have served as the leader of the entire group for a year now. I spend probably 4 hours a week plus a weekend every month. I enjoy it, but I would rather do other things (it used to be really fun). If I stayed, I would probably work on addressing that issue and advancing further. Although, I would not be able to attend functions so I would not get credit for leadership duties. That means I cant put that I served as a leader in my resume.

I know I should not do "what will look good" and do what I enjoy, but I honestly enjoy all my activities equally, it would not matter to me.

Would dropping Boy Scouts and taking up something else be a good idea? I was planning on joining a local youth orchestra instead. I dont want them to see that I did it for 5 years (two in high school) then quit. Would it matter that I quit at all? Should I simply reduce attendance?

Never do something you will be unhappy with just for college. Pursue your other interests and perhaps you will find something that will further you as a whole. Also, the fact that you are dropping an activity does not make you any less of a person. It probably takes more courage to try something new than to keep doing the same routine. Change is good.

I agree with ^^^. You should do what you enjoy and feel strongly about. Having reached the Eagle Scout level is quite an achievement; as you are getting older, it's OK if you feel like you want to change your focus. A hint for college apps, if you do things you feel passionately about, it makes writing college essays a whole lot easier. Good luck.

I don't know, I would suck it up and do it.
